5 Things to do to welcome in the New Year

How we go INTO and how we START the new year is very significant to how it will play out. It is important to prepare and go into this next chapter intentionally. You want to cultivate a peaceful environment to have a clear mind for the transition. P.S. You can also do this if you’re reading it after January. All in divine timing. It’s better to do it now than not at all. Ok, here are five things to help you welcome in the new!

  1. Clean your home

Your home is an extension of you so you want to make sure you clean it. Your home represents your body. It is a sacred space where you live out your life and have your foundation, so it is important to get rid of clutter to welcome in the new. This could look like getting rid of old clothes, reorganizing cabinets, mopping the floors, doing laundry, throwing away old papers/notebooks, opening windows, and lighting a candle when done. Don’t be afraid to part ways with the old.

  1. Cleanse yourself in water/ocean/ salt bath

Water is sacred and healing. It purifies us by removing dirt (physical or energetic). Just as you removed the dirt/old from your home you are going to do that for your physical body too. I love going to the ocean and setting the intention to cleanse as I submerge myself in the salty ocean in my sexiest bikini. Make this experience your own and add little details that make you feel the happiest and sexiest, because you are!

  1. Clean out your phone

People often forget about their phones but they are a big part of our lives. They are an extension of ourselves and a large part of how we connect with others and the world. Go through old text messages, files, apps, update software, photos and clear out the old. You will feel so much lighter! Bonus: change your screensaver to something that will remind you of your intention for the new year! Which takes us to point number 4.

  1. Set intentions for the new year

in·ten·tion

/inˈten(t)SHən/

noun

plural noun: intentions

1. a thing intended; an aim or plan.
“she was full of good intentions”

This one is so important! Intentions are what and who we are on the inside. It is our WILL and AIM. You are so powerful when you set your intentions because your will power/aim becomes your focus and that becomes your reality. Intentions give you direction towards the life you want, so get clear on what you want for this new year and how you will act in accordance with that. Usually it is the first thing that comes to your mind. Trust yourself to know what you need. Listen to your gut.

  1. Celebrate all you have learned

You have come a long way and it is important to honor that! Take some time to journal and write out all that you have done. List out the people you met, the memories you made, the lessons you learned, the places you went, all of it. When reflecting on your past year, be thankful, because it was exactly what YOU needed. Say, “thank you” for all that you have learned. Now you can let go of the things learned and take the love with you into the next chapter!
