Dear Reader,
You are what you do.
Our actions create the timeline you live on. Everything you do adds to who you are. This means even the smallest actions have the greatest impact. This is because your thoughts, actions, and feelings construct your life and contribute to your self-image. Your self-image is who you think you are and what you are capable of. When you change your habits you change how you see yourself, because you can be anything you want. Therefore when you change the habits that are not serving you, you connect to what makes you feel like your best self. You break old patterns with change and consistency. Here are 7 habits that have built me up and changed my life;
1. Reading God’s Word
Reading God’s word is powerful, Holy, and His word will never return void. God’s word will transform you and will shed light on the areas in your life that need attention. God’s word gives love and life to your soul. Remember God is love; for us to know Him, we must be with Him. We must spend quality time with Him. You are His child and when you start with God’s word it changes your whole day. You and your day are transformed.
A friend recently shared that her mom used to say growing up, “If you did not read the Bible today, you lived the day in vain.” Wow. How powerful. Let’s look at the word vain. Vain means having or showing an excessively high opinion of one’s appearance, abilities, or worth. The second definition is producing no result; useless. If you did not spend time with God your day was useless, with no purpose or meaning. She said this stuck with her and now, reading the Bible has become a habit like brushing her teeth. Now she can’t go to sleep without reading the Bible.
2. Waking up early
There is something about waking up early that makes you feel like THAT GIRL, because you are. When you do things that make you feel good you are loving yourself. When you are acting on that love, you begin to act like the person you want to be and your life changes right before your eyes. Waking up early gives you the intimate time with yourself and God. It gives you peace and calm to start your day.
It allows you to connect with yourself before you connect with the world. It allows time with God in your quiet time so you can hear Him. This time allows you to set your intention for the day and get clear on how you want to show up and participate with your day.
3. Writing As Soon As You Wake Up
Writing freehand as soon as you wake up allows you to clear your mind and get in touch with what beliefs/attachments you are telling yourself. This allows a separation between you and your flesh. By putting it all on paper you are able to detach and see what is true for you and what you are ready to let go of. Doing this writing exercise allows you to dump all of the chatter in your mind so you’re not holding on to it.
After the first time doing this exercise, you will notice how much clearer your mind is throughout the day.
4. Working Out
Working out will change your life. It will teach you so much about your body, limiting beliefs, and the physical world. The biggest and most profound lesson working out teaches you firsthand is YOU GET WHAT YOU PUT IN. This goes for all areas in your life.
When you work on being just a little better each day by working out those days will add up and you will see great changes. This will inspire you to try adding just one small thing to other areas in your life.
5. Eating Nutritious Food
You get what you put into your body. We live in a physical world where there are consequences to every action. When you start being mindful of what you consume you start to see how what you were putting into my body was either helping you be better or worse. Your body carries you throughout life and it is important to be aware of what goes into it. When you feel good your whole life changes. You have more energy, your skin improves, and other by-product effect of eating healthy food that supports you and helps you thrive occur. You then CRAVE good food for your soul and body.
Your health is everything and you cannot reach your goals and dreams without a healthy body. It is important to care for it and know the consequences that your actions are producing.
6. Walking Meditation/ 10K Steps
Mediation is essential to balancing your mind and body. Our mind and body are so interconnected. When one is overactive it is important to balance the two. We live in the physical world and the mind requires tuning it every day.
Walking has amazing health benefits like less stress on your body, calming your nervous system, and low refueling after as oppose to running.
7. Working towards something you love/ Purpose
Purpose is essential and found through love. Purpose gives your life direction and gives you something to strive for. This keeps you young at heart. Find something that you love and go after it step by step. Think about what you want to give to the world? Who are you? What do you want to contribute? And give it your all.
Closing
It is important to not only know the routine that will keep you feeling like your best self but to do these things even if you start out for 5 minutes.
Give yourself the opportunity to be a beginer because its leading you to your best self.
Love,
Jessica
