These bible verses have helped and shaped me as I have come to love myself and trust God with my whole heart. Self love means loving yourself and trusting your voice. It means trusting that you were created for a purpose and that you are worth loving. You are worth showing up for yourself as your best self.
The best way to stay connected to God is to read His word daily and marinate on it. Toss it over and over in your mind. You also want to memorize scripture. This is where the real change happens. When you have scripture memorized this allows you to be armored with God’s word when the evil one strikes. I challenge you to memorize at least one from the list.
- “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5-6
I love this verse because it reminds us we do not have to know everything to know the way. We just have to trust Him and surrender to His love fully. We must truly believe and know that He only wants the best for us and when we act he is with us every step of the way. Trust is walking your path and being able to receive love and surprises. When we trust in God with all of our heart we also trust ourselves.
- “For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. ”- Jeremiah 29:11
This verse helped heal my relationship with love/God. This verse is connected to trust in the creator who made us and loves. This opens our heart to love ourselves and let go of our own plan and trust His. Our minds can sometimes be overactive and think they know best but truly God’s plan is so much better than we could ever imagine.
- “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” – Philippians 4:6-7
This verse has saved me so many anxious nights. This verse helped me connect to action as well as prayer. We must not only pray we must take action too. Remember when we love ourselves we move towards love. This means making tough decisions that will make our lives better and not worrying about the outcome because it will all happen for our very best. When we worry we leak energy. There is no need to worry, we are covered with God’s love. This is being blessed.
- “I can do all this through him who gives me strength” – Philippians 4:13
We are stronger than the old patterns we are looking to change. The old pattern that is connected to a shadow doesn’t stand a chance to our light. Through the love of Jesus we know we are stronger because we are a fraction of light. We know He came to show us how powerful we are and the Spirit of God is with us and is greater than the spirit of this world.
- “The LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love” – Psalm 147:11
When I was working through an old pattern of self-sabotage this verse helped me get clear on the true fear: not being connected to God. I was scared of changing this part of myself that had kept me safe but was ultimately killing me by keeping me stagnant due to fear. This verse reminded me that the faith and belief in His unfailing love is far greater of a reward than my control and I was done letting this emotion control me. Ultimately, I want what He wants for me. He knows best and sometimes it can be scary to let go but it is the absolute best thing we can do.
